overview

Senior technical staff from the Departments of Reproductive Health and Research, Making Pregnancy Safer and Child and Adolescent Health and Development, led by WHO’s Assistant Director-General met on 2–3 February 2006 in a WHO-UNFPA bilateral technical consultation with senior Headquarters staff from UNFPA’s Technical Support Division, led by the Deputy Executive Director. The specific objectives of the consultation were to share highlights on progress in the implementation of activities of mutual interest; to explore and elaborate opportunities for enhancing collaboration on the global strategy to accelerate progress towards the attainment of international development goals and targets related to sexual and reproductive health; to define key actions for collaborative implementation; and to identify complementary efforts most likely to yield the best results in reducing the disease burden from sexuality and reproduction.
