Decade of Action for Road Safety launch

The Decade of Action for Road Safety launch will be held at the Police Headquarter right in the heart of the capital of the Cook Islands. A primary school art competition with the theme "Road Safety is No Accident" started the activities with media coverage. The main event is the launch at 12md on 10 May 2011 since Cook Islands is one day backwards equivalent to the other side of the world's 11 May 2011 at the Police Headquarter with invited quests from different sectors of the community. The Police Commissioner will welcome all followed by speakers from the Road Safety Council, Non Government Organisations, and guess speakers who were involved in road crashes sharing their experiences. One is a mother whose son was killed and the other is an innocent male who was run down by a drunk driver. The offical address and launch of the Decade of Action for Road Safety will be delivered by the Hon.Minister of Health Mr Nandi Tuaine Glassie due to the unavailability of the Prime Minister of the Cook Islands. Give aways of bumper stickers, facts sheets, along with media awareness and a banner are some of the activities planned. The school art competition will close on 7 June, judging on 9 June and display in the Banks will be form the 13 - 17 June 2011.
