Kenya Decade of Action Launch
11 May 2011, Usalama Watch Initiative
Usalama Watch Initiative, The Association for Safe International Road Travel (ASIRT- Kenya), the Lollipop project and Pamoja Road Safety Initiative in collaboration with other organizations is spearheading the Kenya launch for the Decade of Action 11 May 2011. As a consortium we have identified a number of risk factors that need to be addressed over the next ten years. Consequently we have drafted a Memorandum of Understanding that encompasses a comprehensive action plan with a timeline that we shall present to the Minister on this day. We have noted with concern that everyday pedestrians are killed or injured on Mombasa road; this is mainly due to lack of proper infrastructure. It is in this respect that we shall host the launch along Mombasa road. On the day of the launch we shall have a road safety caravan that will start from the Nyayo stadium roundabout to turn at Sameer Park Junction and back again. On the caravan we shall have singing road safety themed songs to attract the youth to the selected venue (ICC church or Shell petrol station). The aim of this road show is to highlight the importance of pedestrian safety and at the same time put the Government to task. During the month of April we shall go into full media campaign gear to create awareness ahead of the Decade of Action launch.

Road carnage eradication
1 May - 1 June 2011, Accident Free Kenya
Road carnage has been on the high rise in Kenya, I took the challenge to educate our drivers on major causes through distribution of pamphlets. So far I've given 15000 pamphlets. If at all I can get a sponsor, I can manage to reach many towns and almost 250,000 drivers and make advertisements through our media.
