Mozambique- Launching of Decade of Road Safety event

On May 11 will take place a National High level Symposium for launching the decade and launching the National Multissectorial Strategy for Road Safety, presseded by an awareness raising walking in one of the main avenue of the Maputo city involving mass media, government, civil society organizations, religious and academic institutions, community groups and associations. The workshop will be opened by the Primer Minister and will take place in the Joaquim Chissano National Conference Center with participants from Government instituitions involving on the Road Safety - Ministry of transport, Foreign affairs, Health, Public works, Education , Development partners (UN and Cooperation agencies) and the Civil Society Organizations. The Strategy was developed under the coordination of the Road Safety Council with participation of different government and non government partners. During the workshop is expected to have the firm commitment of the government on actions to reduce road traffic injuries with civil society and development partner's support. Also is expected high media coverage of the event in with some appeals from the victims of road traffic accidents association. From May 12 and 14 - Will take place awareness sections in some Schools of Maputo about road safety, distribution of awareness raising materials in high concentration places of the urban centers.
