Be Road Friendly
11-13 May 2011, Lagos State Schools Traffic Safety Advocacy Programme

The Lagos State Government will be commemorating the United Nations Decade of Safety through the Lagos State School Traffic Safety Advocacy Program. A press briefing will be held on Wednesday 11th of May 2011 which will be followed on Friday 13th May 2011 by our event tagged: BE ROAD FRIENDLY. This one day event will showcase activities by our traffic safety club members who will showcase traffic safety exhibitions, poetry recitation, choreography, drama and in addition, we shall be commissioning the Traffic Safety Lab, which have been established in 70 schools within Lagos State serve as a traffic safety education resource center for children. There will be approximately 600 primary and secondary school children representing all education districts in the state. In attendance will be the 18 finalists of the 2011 Be Road Friendly competition which began with over 6000 participants during the first stage of the competition.

Road Safety for Life Safety

Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020: Certificate of Driving Mastery Program Presentation

AUTOSECURED ROAD SAFETY ADVOCACY PROGRAMME

  • set up First Aid Treatment Centres at strategic locations along the major highways in Nigeria.
  • form a partnership with other major stakeholders to improve safety conditions of road users.

Nigerian Launch of the UN Decade of Action
10-11 May 2011, Federal Road Safety Corps

here are pre launch events 1)road safety choral song competion among chidren of road safety clubs in primary and secondary schools in the federal capital city. Signature cards have been distributed to collect signatures from people committing to a)wearing seatbelt,2)not phoning or texting while driving, 3) no to overspeeding 4)no to drive driving.On the 10th MAY there will be an international press conference by the corps marshal and chief executive of the federal road safety corps, Nigeria and on the 11th we are starting with a road show, with some popular nigerian artistes, children of road safety clubs and stakeholders, this will be followed at the main arena this day dome in abuja with music, goodwill/ committment messages from executive governor of a state, keynote paper by the nigerian health minister, goodwill messages from victims Ngos, signatures collected will be handed over to the vice president of the federal republic of nigeria who is the special guest of honor. there will be documentary, drama and the winners of the road safety choral song competition will perform for guests. On the 11TH MAY in all the 36 states of the country there will be road shows to end up with an awareness campaign in the major motor park in the state in collaboration with the transport unions, Ngos and civil society groups chidren and other stakeholders.

Launch of Decade of Action in Delta State, Nigeria
11 May 2011, PATVORA Initiative

PATVORA Initiative will organize a road safety forum for stakeholders in Asaba, Delta State Capital, Nigeria. Political leaders mostly members of the State House of Assembly, Road Union Executives, Religious leaders Corporate organisation and victims are expected to pledge support for Decade of Action. Thereafter, vital information on the Decade of Action will be distributed to over 500 anticipated participants of the event. Public First Aid training by 100 volunteers of the PATVORA Initiative will be conducted in five major centres of Asaba city. Also, poster exhibition on road safety by school children will hold in three major cities, Agbor, Warri and Sapele. This event is in collaboration with three community based organisations, Youths for Accelerated development, Youths go for safety and savealive association. In partnership with the State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission, a proposed courtesy call will be paid to Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.
