The registered NGO, HELMET VACCINE INITIATIVE TANZANIA (HVI - T) in collaboration with Tanzania police force shall distribute free 500 pieces of protective helmets that had been offered by ASIA INJURY PREVENTION FOUNDATION in a well organised concert which will involve media, prominent political figures and musicians. The distribution of these helmets will go together with the provision of education on Law enforcement to police officers and public awareness education to general public throughout the week.

Launch of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 In Tanzania

The launching climax will take place on the 11 May 2010 at the Institute of Education grounds in Kijitonyama, Dar es Salaam. The guest of honour is expected to be His Excellency the President of the United Republic of Tanzania. Theme "Make Road Travel safe for all". Stakeholder's involved under Decade five (5) pillars: Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of works, Ministry of Transport, Surface and Marine Transport Regulatory Authority ,TANROADS, Ministry of Health, RED Cross, CCBRT, Ministry of Education, TANT Centre , Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority, Vocational Education Training Authority ,National Institute for Transport , AMEND, Helmet Vaccine Initiative Tanzania, Association of bicycle raiders, Drivers Association of Tanzania, Automobile Association of Tanzania ,Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA. Public awareness through media, expert's interview, printing of T- Shirt, caps and "Khanga". The climax will be marked by procession, Entertainments, Speech's, Exhibitions and Siren sound to indicate the launch.

Dar es Salaam Cycle Caravan

A cycle caravan through Dar es Salaam to call for better and safer conditions for cyclists. Starts and ends at Mnazi Mmoja grounds. Guest of honour Minister for Works (and Roads). Reflective jackets will be distributed to participants.

Launch of Decade of Action for Road Safety and Celebration of Europe Week, Zanzibar, 11th May 2011

Amend is a grassroots nonprofit organization, based in New York City focused on childhood road traffic injury-prevention programs. In Tanzania we are a registered NGO, Registration No. NGO/00003237 Activities for the Launch of Decade of Action in May 11, 2011 in Zanzibar 1. A procession by pupils and teachers from four primary schools in Zanzibar Town 10:00am to 01:00pm as part of efforts to raise road safety awareness among school children, teachers and their communities. 2. At the central location pupils will be given road safety lessons by AMEND staff in collaboration with Traffic Police. Parents will be encouraged to assist in these lessons, to give them the knowledge to then volunteer their time to assist pupils to cross roads at their children's schools 3. Pupils will then have a road safety quiz, with reflector-enhanced backpacks prizes awarded to winners.
