Walkable City, Living Streets

This will be a full-day conference to be held at an inspiring venue in “Kowloon East” around the old Kai Tak Airport where transformation to the second Central Business District of Hong Kong is taking place. The conference will consist of three themes, namely ‘Pedestrian Network’, ‘Pedestrian Safety’, and ‘Streets as Public Spaces’, followed by a panel discussion on integrating them in urban and transport planning in Hong Kong. Lunch-time talks will be given by popular figures on street culture, and post-conference visits will also be planned. The event is expected to attract up to 200 participants from Government departments, the public sector, civil society groups, transport and planning professionals, business organizations, academia, and members of the general public to discuss the current state of pedestrian policy and to provoke a city-wide debate over walkability and road safety.

Safe Kids Walk This Way
15 April - 30 May, Safe Kids Worldwide China

This is a series of advocacy activities during April and May supported by Safe Kids Walk This Way (WTW)program, aiming at child pedestrian safety, which started in 2004 in China till now. the UN Week events will start in April through advaocacy message retweeting on social media, opening application to national activist on child pedestrian safety especially for child pediatricians. WTW program will support the advocacy tools such as banners, posters, etc. FedEx employees nationwide will also join the advocacy through online & offline activities. During the week of May.6-12, a physicial advocacy event will be held in a primary school in Shanghai. Child pediatrician, volunteers and media will be invited to participate the event. I'm Walking for Child Pedestrian Safety--FedEx, Safe Kids China, handed up with national child pediatricians calling for road safety for children

The event will started with an opening ceremony with representatives from Safe Kids China, FedEx China, child pediatrician, gov. agencies' address on the importance of road safety for children. After that, behavior-oriented practices on road safety facilitated by FedEx volunteers will be rolled out in the whole school with around 500 primary school students participation. Traditional media will be invited onsite to witness the event and help advocate road safety for children. Special thanks to Shanghai Ximei Primary School for supporting the event.

FedEx volunteers nationwide in China support the UN Global Road Safety Week

FedEx employees nationwide in China are supporting the UN Global Road Safety Week through 1) sharing tweet on weibo.com(China twitter): 341 FedEx volunteers shared 451 tweets. and through 2)hold a grassroot advocacy Long Short Walk activity with advocacy materials:105 FedEx volunteer applied the material kit, and 50 of them will get physical material kit, the others will get e-kit. Around 500 more FedEx volunteers will be involved based on the application report.

Second UN Global Road Safety Week-Pedestrian Safety

The activities of 2nd RS Week will kick off with a launching ceremony on 6th May in Beijing to highlight the theme of "Pedestrian Safety", including participants from National Health and Family Planning Commission, Ministry of Public Security, international organizations, plus dozens of media and primary students. A new published book "Child Road Safety" will be donated to the students for their safe walking. A road safety education lesson will be given to the students after the launching, which will be conducted by the traffic police. Following that lesson, an outside advocacy walking will be organized to convey the message of making walk safe to the public and raise their awareness of Road Safety Week and Pedestrian Safety. All the participants will wear the reflective vest and advocacy material such as reflector and balloon will be disseminated to pedestrians. News and articles will be reported on TV, radio and newspaper, as well as social media such as weibo during the week.
