Pedestrian accidents main focus for Danish AIB

In 2013 the Danish Road Traffic Accident Investigation Board (AIB) focus its main activity on accidents involving pedestrians. A number of serious pedestrian accidents, are analysed thoroughly and conclusions are drawn. Pedestrian accidents often causes severe injuries. Children under 15 years and people older than 69 years are more frequently involved in pedestrian accidents than in other types accidents with personal injury. The pedestrian accidents happens mainly in urban areas and in the big cities in Denmark. Each accident is investigated thoroughly by an interdisciplinary team consisting of a car inspector, road engineer, police, doctor and psychologist. All parties and witnesses interviewed by AIB. A report documenting the comprehensive analysis of all pedestrian accidents will be completed in 2013.
