TURIANI SECONDARY SCHOOL, LONG SHORT WALK AT KINONDONI MUNICIPALITY

HVIT-sponsored GRSW activities will take place at or near Turiani Secondary School in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.Located in an area with numerous new roads under construction to connect Dar es Salaam withother countries, students encounter a pedestrian environment with many large vehicles and constant traffic jams.Participants – including students, teachers, and road safety supporters – will gather at the school, together walk a route near the school, and afterwards receive an address on pedestrian safety from the Police Traffic Commander and the Municipal Education Officer. This event will take place sometime during the week of May 6 – 12, 2013.And at the end of the week on 11th May, 2013 a special Dignatary a UN Resident Coordinator in Tanzania Dr. Alberic Kacou has been invited to officiate the commemotation of the 2 kilometers Long Short Walk. Banners, leaflets and signage will display my long short walk messages.Media will be among our priority during the preparation and covering the event.

Long Short Walk
6-12 May, Amend
School staff, students, local leaders and community members will take part in a Long Short Walk during Global Road Safety Week being led by the international road safety NGOs Amend and the Helmet Vaccine Initiative to raise awareness on road safety issues. The event will take place in the Kinondoni District of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania with Turiani Primary and Secondary schools.
