Global Road Safety Week in UK

Activities planned for the UK to support Global Road Safety Week include production of a series of simple guides to help schools and other organisations implement low or no cost activities to enhance pupils’ road safety skills and awareness. The Week will also see a series of online forums and discussion sessions where road safety professionals around the world will be able to interact with each other and share experiences and ideas to help improve child road safety.

Save Kids Lives - South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership

Attending local children's soft play areas to provide information about road safety to both parents and the children. We will be giving out written information, freebies and colouring sheets. Advice will including information on child seats and seatbelts, safer places to cross the road, where are safer places to play and the Green Cross Code.

Third UN Global Road Safety Week

Brake will organise media activity in support of the #SaveKidsLives campaign during The Third UN Global Road Safety Week including distributing a press release, and conducting media interviews, calling on drivers to ‘GO 20’ (mph) or below in built up areas, linked to its GO 20 campaign (brake.org.uk/go20). Brake will also release a free guidance report on supporting children who have suffered a sudden bereavement including in road crashes, as part of its work supporting road crash victims and sharing good practice among sudden bereavement professionals (see brake.org.uk/support and sudden.org). Brake will be encouraging UK based organisations to register for UK Road Safety Week in November (at roadsafetyweek.org.uk) and non-UK organisations to use the information and advice on Brake’s global road safety information hub: roadsafetyweek.org.

JRSO 'Design a Logo' Competition

Scotland's Junior Road Safety Officers are being asked to design a logo for Scottish Road Safety Week, whcih is being run this year to support Global Road Safety Week. The new logo will be used for the competition certificates and perhaps used for promotional purposes next year, if Scottish Road Safety Week runs again.
