Road Safety Awareness Raising in Schools

Road Safety Days will be held at four schools in Korogwe during the course of Global Road Safety Week. The events will involve presentations and practical demonstrations by teachers, doctors and police, as well as competitions, road safety reviews of the areas around the schools, and the appointment of Road Safety Ambassadors to sit on the schools' Student Councils.

Workshop on road safety for local community and launch of CTS website
28 April 2007 — Ubungo bus terminal Dar Es salaam, United Republic of Tanzania

Campaign for travelers safety trust fund (CTS) will organize a workshop on road safety for young pupils from four selected primary schools and communities around schools in Kinondoni Municipal in Dar es salaam region. The selected schools are those found along main roads and therefore children are more at risk of road accidents. CTS will organize one day seminar for each school which will be attended by 50 pupils, 2 teachers, 2 members of school committees, 1 traffic police officer, 1 education officer from council, a ward executive officer and one volunteer from the surrounding community who will serve as traffic manager responsible to direct children on how to cross the road safely and being the champion during demonstration. Additional to that youth will play drama on road safety themes as well as passenger rights. Also CTS will launch its web site. The guest of honor of event will be the Deputy Minister of Safety and Security. The event of launching will include many stakeholders of passenger safety and rights.
