Announcement: Call for proposals for stakeholder events
1 August 2011 - The Conference Secretariat is currently accepting proposals to hold stakeholder events in Rio de Janeiro during the World Conference on Social Determinants of Health. Given the limited space availability, the Secretariat requires written proposals to select eligible events. Proposal addressing the following points should be sent by 31 August 2011 to obbadim@who.int.
- Objective of the event with a preliminary programme and proposed speakers.
- Target audience and number of expected participants.
- Proposed financing for the event.
- Proposed date and time for the event.
Meeting rooms will be made available on 18-21 October 2011 at the Rio Othon Palace Hotel. This hotel is a 10-minute walk from the official conference venue.
The selection will be based on a review of the proposal's relevance to the conference themes and on the availability of meeting spaces. WHO will not be involved in the organization and promotion of these stakeholder-led events and cannot provide logistical support.
Conclusions and recommendations from stakeholder events will be accepted for consideration by the declaration drafting committee of the World Conference on Social Determinants of Health.
While these events will not be part of the official programme, conference participants will be informed about the time and date of the events. We regret that individuals invited to stakeholder events will not be able to attend the World Conference of Social Determinants of Health without a formal invitation to the conference.
