Essential medicines selection

WHO Expert Committees

The WHO Expert Committee on Selection and Use of Essential Medicines meets every two years to review the latest scientific evidence on the efficacy, safety and cost effectiveness of medicines in order to revise and update the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines for both adults and children. Committee members are selected from WHO Expert Advisory Panels based on equitable geographical representation, gender balance and professional competencies in order to provide a representation of different approaches and practical experience from all regions of the world.

The 19th Expert Committee meeting will take place at WHO Headquarters, Geneva, from 8 to 12 April 2013.

The WHO Secretariat for the 19th Expert Committee on Selection and Use of Essential Medicines thanks all those who have provided comments.

In order to prepare for the meeting in April, we need to close the “Comments on Applications” section of the website.

The final date for comments on the applications was 28th February 2013. Comments received after the 28th are not uploaded.

The final date for comments on the expert reviews is 21st March 2013. Comments received after the 21st will not be uploaded.

However all submissions received, including those after 21st March, will be made available to the Expert Committee.
