Frequently-asked questions

What are the impact targets for global TB control?

Frequently-asked questions

The main impact targets for global TB control, set within the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) and by the Stop TB Partnership, are to ensure that the TB incidence rate is falling by 2015, and that TB prevalence and death rates are halved by 2015 compared with their level in 1990.

The targets are part of the WHO's Stop TB Strategy, and they were recognized in a World Health Assembly resolution on TB passed in 2007 (WHA 60.19). The Stop TB Partnership has also set a target of eliminating TB by 2050, with elimination defined as an incidence rate of less than one case per million population per year.
