Civil Society Task Force on TB

In April 2016, the Global TB Programme of WHO established a Civil Society Task Force on TB (CSTF) to follow up on the recommendations of the Statement of Action to enhance the engagement of communities, NGOs and other CSOs in assisting the whole of society approach for the implementation of the End TB Strategy.

Functions of the Civil Society Task Force

  • Contribute to the implementation of the End TB Strategy and key recommendations of the Statement of Action with particular focus on social protection and universal health coverage and advocating their inclusion in national TB strategies and plans, national social programmes and political platforms (e.g. parliaments) and regional and global platforms of policy dialogue.

  • Strategically contribute to the Global TB Programme of WHO to enhance the engagement of communities, NGOs and other CSOs in the overall implementation of the End TB Strategy.

  • Provide inputs to the annual deliberations of the Strategic and Technical Advisory Group for Tuberculosis (STAG-TB) on specific topics pertaining to the enhanced engagement of communities, NGOs and other CSOs in the overall implementation of the End TB Strategy.

  • Assess the progress of implementation of the Addis Ababa Statement of Action.


2nd Meeting of the Civil Society Taskforce on TB

The second Civil Society Task Force Meeting took place on 27 June 2016 in Liverpool, UK. It was organized in conjunction with the 47th World Conference on Lung Health. Objectives of the meeting were to review progress in the implementation of key priories; to share experiences of the taskforce members and identify good practices; and to discuss and refine the taskforce priorities to take forward.

1st Meeting of the Civil Society Taskforce on TB

The first Civil Society Task Force Meeting took place on 16 June 2016 in Geneva, Switzerland. It was organized in conjunction with the 16th meeting of the STAG-TB from 13 to 15 June 2016, and WHO and Partners Meeting on 16 June 2016, in order to facilitate their strategic input to the work of WHO. Objectives of the meeting were to agree on specific actions and plans in line with the CSTF functions.
