Tuberculosis (TB)

Partners working with TBTEAM

TBTEAM’s mandate is to promote national planning for TA by countries, facilitates identification of needs and coordination of TA at country level and the supply, coordination and quality assurance of TA providers.

TBTEAM partners are part of the TBTEAM coordination mechanism, and include national TB programmes, Civil Society Organizations (local and international NGOs, Faith Based Organizations, Community based organizations), financial partners, and WHO at country, regional and global levels. This network shares information among all levels and determines appropriate technical support in consultation with all interested parties.

TBTEAM Partners, whether at Headquarter or national level, coordinate through National TBTEAM (or Regional TBTEAM in countries without an effective National TBTEAM) technical assistance provided by their organization. TBTEAM Partners ensure with National TBTEAM focal persons and other technical partners involved in countries, that the TA to countries is discussed and known to other partners, and that TA needs are filled. TBTEAM Partners, whether at Headquarter or national level, help coordinate technical assistance provided to countries by their organization, and ensure that the TA to countries is coordinated with other national activities.

TBTEAM partners are invited to register their Organization Profile (containing basic information about their organization). In order to register with TBTEAM, organizations must be currently providing technical assistance or guidance (advice, recommendations, training, assessment etc.) to an organization or individual affiliated to a national TB programme or health department or facility, or CSO [NGO].

Definition of technical assistance (TA)

TA is considered as long or short term support provided to an organization or individual affiliated to government or civil society, by an organization or an individual based in the country or outside the country, on TB and health related issues with the aim to improve TB control and TB patient care and prevention. TA is an indirect health service delivery to patients. TA supports national/local authority in defining and reaching objectives that reflect international standards and policies for TB control and treatment.
