News from TDR Director, John Reeder

This month we have a range of research capacity strengthening activities to report on that are helping countries make important progress on numerous diseases and health systems. Our support to social innovation for health is also gathering more attention and interest.

TDR Global, the new platform for research networking, is now live.

Looking for an expert who has worked on some aspect of infectious diseases of poverty? Need a multi-disciplinary team? Would you like some additional exposure for your work?

The challenges of disease elimination – the example of visceral leishmaniasis

Progress towards the elimination of a neglected tropical disease from a country can sometimes be a curse. It’s easily interpreted that there is no longer any need to address the health problem, and limited resources are redirected to the next priority.

About TDR: making a difference

TDR, the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases, is a global programme of scientific collaboration that helps facilitate, support and influence efforts to combat diseases of poverty. TDR is hosted at the World Health Organization (WHO), and is sponsored by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank and WHO.
