Training and fellowships

Training on the use of rapid diagnostic tests

TDR supports individual training, institutional development through regional networks or platforms, and South-South and North-South partnerships. Scholarships, fellowships and short courses associated with institutional development programmes are provided in areas such as management and leadership. Regional training centres have been set up in four WHO regions – the Americas, Southeast Asia, the Western Pacific and Europe – where short training courses for ethics, good practices and project planning and evaluation are conducted.

The Career Development Fellowship provides a one-year fellowship to low- and middle-income country candidates to learn both the product development and full registration processes by taking part at every stage, training in the some of the world’s most advanced labs.

Planning and executing implementation research projects - A toolbox for teaching and conducting implementation research

COMING SOON!

Implementation research is a growing field that is getting much more attention in global health. It has proven value in identifying solutions and options to overcome obstacles in health care delivery and disease control programmes. In low- and middle-income countries where the need is greatest, there is a lack of knowledge about this type of research and limited skills to undertake it. To meet these needs, a toolbox is being developed to help researchers in low- and middle-income countries develop proposals and conduct implementation research. It combines applied research and public health practice and can be used for group training in workshops, teaching modules in universities and training institutions. Individualized follow-up attention through mentoring is recommended, with an annex included specifically on this topic.

Experts from all regions of the world were contracted to develop this publication, which was then reviewed by another round of different worldwide experts. An advisory committee comprising researchers, policy-makers and healthcare workers oversaw the work.
