TDR recognized for excellence in interactive media
TDR has been recognized for excellence in interactive media with an award for the First Global Symposium on Health Systems Research (HSR) . The award was given for web design, creativity, usability and functionality in the education category.
Researchers, policy-makers, funders, and other stakeholders representing diverse constituencies gathered for the symposium in Montreux, Switzerland November 2010 to share evidence, identify significant knowledge gaps, and set a research agenda that reflects the needs of low and middle-income countries.
The HSR Symposium website ensured that over 300 000 virtual participants took part in this Symposium – notably – many of them were doing so from low and middle income countries. Web-based collaborative tools, live web cast coverage, and blogging from the event ensured that the debate was widened through the participation of those on the frontline of health systems implementation.
''The interactive tools that were used helped increase the numbers of people who were able to participate in the conference and widened our online community. For global audiences, the use of the web this way is really important,” said Jamie Guth, TDR Communications Manager.
The Horizon Interactive Awards, a leading international media awards competition, announced the 2010 award winners to highlight this year’s “best of the best” in interactive media production. The awards recognized a diverse group of winners and included academic institutes and government Agencies, the US National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, Comic Relief and Disney.
The ninth annual competition received a record number of entries from countries around the world. Honouring creative excellence, the awards are judged by an advisory panel, end user panel and a worldwide panel of judges consisting of industry professionals dedicated to elevating the standards of excellence on the Internet. Thirty seven different categories ranged from online advertising to mobile applications. The 2010 winning entries showcase the industry’s best interactive media solutions including web sites, CDs and DVDs, online ads, video, mobile applications and more.
This award helps highlight complex health topics and influences global efforts to combat major diseases of the poor and those in need. TDR would like to thank everyone that contributes to this effort, and our ever growing online community.
