Scientific articles from TDR research increases 33%

TDR news item
20 June 2012

TDR’s annual analysis of peer reviewed publications from grantees shows an increase of 33% in the volume of articles from 2010 to 2011.

A total of 233 peer-reviewed publications acknowledged TDR support. Of these, 143 publications (61%) had their lead authors from low- and middle-income countries where the diseases are endemic. TDR’s goal is 65%, so progress is being made and the target is close.

Number of peer reviewed publications supported by TDR in disease endemic countries (DECs) and non-DECs.

“One of our core functions is to strengthen research capacity where it’s needed,” says TDR Director Dr John Reeder. “While there is much that is still needed, this is a sign that we’re on the right track.” TDR is in the process of updating its strategy, which includes an expansion of research capacity strengthening.
