Symposium coverage provided by TropIKA.net

TDR news item
29 October 2012

TropIKA.net will set up a Knowledge Hub at the Second Global Symposium on Health Systems Research. Coverage will focus on selected sessions related to infectious diseases of poverty: funding and capacity building for health systems research, implementation research, community-directed interventions, reviewing evidence for policy, translation of research into public health interventions and the interactions of global health initiatives with health systems. For each theme, TropIKA.net is providing background documentation on the site. Journalist Priya Shetty and two postdoctoral fellows, Dr Ernest Tambo and Dr Emmanuel Ugwu, will report daily on these selected sessions.

The TropIKA.net knowledge hub aims to provide equitable access to information in order to enhance stakeholders’ preparation for informed discussions and meaningful input at the Symposium. TropIKA.net was set up in 2007 as an initiative of TDR, and BIREME of the Pan American Health Organization hosts and manages the portal. It is currently being transitioned for further development within low- and middle-income countries.
