Innovative vector control interventions - 2009 annual report
An outline of progress made in TDR’s ‘Innovative vector control interventions’ research function during 2009
Summary
The need for vector control interventions
Vector-borne diseases occur in more than 100 countries worldwide and affect about half of the world’s population. They are both emerging and resurging and the inadequate impact of control measures is reflected in the high burden of disease. Vector control is a key component of prevention strategies that can interrupt transmission and reverse this trend.
