Research on rapid geographical assessment of Bancroftian filariasis
Prepared during a protocol development workshop held from 22-25 July 1997, James Cook University, Townsville, Australia
This report presents the outcome of a workshop held to discuss the possibility of estimating the geographical distribution of filariasis on the basis of surveys in a limited spatial sample of communities.
The three main sections of the report present:
- a review of spatial patterns of filariasis
- proposed methods for the rapid geographical assessment of Bancroftian filariasis
- plans for field-testing of the proposed methods
Two annexes provide a list of participants and a interview form for use in the rapid assessment of community burden of disease.
