In 1996, TDR organized a comparative study of nine recombinant antigens that showed promise for use in vaccines against leishmaniasis. The purpose of the 4th TDR/IDRI Meeting on Second-Generation Vaccines against Leishmaniasis, was to evaluate the results of these studies, and discuss current trends in Leishmania vaccine development.
This report presents results and conclusions from the comparative study, gives summaries of current research being conducted in laboratories worldwide, and outlines conclusions and recommendations arising from the meeting.
