Disease-specific reference groups

Malaria (DRG 1)

The malaria disease reference group is hosted by the WHO Regional Office for Africa.


Tuberculosis, leprosy and Buruli ulcer (DRG 2)

The tuberculosis, leprosy and Buruli ulcer disease reference group is hosted by the WHO country office for the Philippines.


Chagas disease, HAT and leishmaniasis (DRG 3)

The Chagas, human African trypanosomiasis and leishmaniasis disease reference group is hosted by the WHO Country Office for Sudan (HAT and leishmaniasis) and the WHO Country Office for Brazil (Chagas disease).

Helminth infections (DRG 4)

The helminth diseases reference group covers six major helminth infections: 1. soil transmitted helminthiasis; 2. schistosomiasis; 3. lymphatic filariasis; 4. onchocerciasis; 5. food-borne trematodiasis; and 6. cysticercosis/taeniasis. It is hosted by the African Programme for Onchocerciasis Control, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Dengue and other emerging viral diseases of public health importance (DRG5)

The dengue and emerging viral diseases reference group examines dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever and other emerging viral diseases of public health importance. It is hosted by the WHO Country Office for Cuba.


Zoonoses and marginalised infectious diseases of poverty (DRG 6)

The zoonoses and marginalised infectious diseases reference group is hosted by the WHO Regional office of Eastern and Mediterranean (EMRO) in collaboration with the WHO Country Office for Egypt.
