World No Tobacco Day 2007
Nairobi, Kenya, 9 May - 15 June 2007
We are commemorating the WNTD in Nakuru, a major town in Kenya. It is the first and only jurisdiction that has been declared smoke-free in the country. We have preceeding radio spots based on the theme and will hold a press conference on the eve of the event. We shall have opinion leaders, policy makers and advocates for tobacco-free initiatives giving speeches on the actual day. We will also have theme-based entertainment on the day. We shall hold a media breakfast after the event to advocate for the passing of the Tobacco Control Bill which covers protection of the public from second-hand tobacco smoke.
