World No Tobacco Day 2007

On 30th of May we will arrange a press briefing with the local press and highlight the World No Tobacco Day during the press briefing. News will be published on 31 May 2007 and that same day, we will arrange a walk in the market with other partners, Health Department and Education Department. During the walk we will display banners and posters regarding the day and issue. The walk will finish when all the walk participants gather in the public library where a seminar will be held and speakers will talk on the issue and highlight the importance of the day.

Rally on tobacco use control
Mingora, Pakistan, 22 May - 10 June 2007

On the eve of World no Tobacco Day, 31 May 2007. Swat Youth Front will celebrate the day by organizing a rally. The rally will start from Swat Youth Front's head office, located in Haji Baba, Mingora Swat at 10:00 am, under the leadership of Saeed Karim Shalmanee, Advocate/Chairmain Human Rights Committee NWFP. The participants will include lecturers, teachers, journalists, lawyers, traders, doctors, 200 college and school students, SYF's members and staff, including people from other walks of life. The participants will be highlighting the day with posters, banners and play cards. After passing through the main squares of Mingora City the participants will gather in Nishat Chowk (Square). The speakers will address on the day awaring the participants about the hazardous affects of tobacco use and will demand from the government to implement the tobacco control laws with full strength. After, this the rally will come to an end.

Smoke-Free Environments
Okara, Pakistan, 30 May 2007

Movement Against Drug Abuse (MADA) Okara, Pakistan (registered), has been fighting against the social evils in Pakistan since 1999. Although it is a movement against drug addiction, it arranges walks, seminars, symposiums and medical camps to invite the attention of the government and community to the social problems. For this purpose MADA Okara arrange a conference against tobacco. More than 110 teenagers attend the conference. Our education center Abdul Rasheed memorial education center students, celebrate this day and distribute informative literature, pamphlets, stickers and calendars with messages and slogans against tobacco. Media also coverage this conference.
