Michael Bloomberg receives WHO Medal

New York, 2 May 2017 -- Honoring his years of service to public health, his commitment to fighting noncommunicable diseases, and his work to reduce preventable injuries, WHO Global Ambassador Michael Bloomberg was awarded The WHO Medal today during a drowning prevention convening led by his foundation.

WHO works closely with Bloomberg Philanthropies on a range of initiatives, including data-health and the Bloomberg Initiative to reduce tobacco use.

Michael R. Bloomberg received the WHO Medal for his commitment to global health, especially noncommunicable diseases and injury prevention. The WHO medal was handed by WHO Director-General, Dr Margaret Chan.
