The World Health Organization (WHO) has been collaborating with the Ministry of Finance of Senegal since December 2011 in reviewing the current excise tax system and ways to improve it. Senegal is conscious of the importance of simplifying their excise tax structure for better administration. It is also keen on increasing tax rates to curb smoking as well as increasing government revenues.
