The World Health Organization (WHO) held a workshop on tobacco taxation in Thailand, from 26-30 March 2012. The Ministries of Finance of 11 countries from the South-East Asia and Western Pacific regions participated. Those included Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal and Thailand.
The workshop was co-hosted by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation and aimed to strengthen the technical capacity of tax administrations as they act to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their tobacco tax systems to achieve public health and finance objectives.
