Overview and Key Presentations
The 2006 meeting reviewed and discussed key issues in vaccine research and development. Particular consideration and reviews was given to the the following issues:
- Prospects for pandemic influenza vaccines
- Innovation,intellectual property rights and new vaccine production in the South East Asian region
- Rabies, an unrecognized health priority in Asia
- Update on vaccines against Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization priority diseases new vaccines
- Vaccines against cervical cancer
- Development of vaccines against HIV, Malaria and Tuberculosis
Three parallel satellite symposia were held prior to the conference on:
- Optimization of immunization schedules for conjugate vaccines
and on
- Standard of care and treatment in vaccine clinical trials
and on
- Japanese encephalitis and dengue vaccine research and development
