Initiative for Vaccine Research (IVR)

Global Vaccine Research Forum

The conference began back in Morges, Switzerland in June 1996 and was known then as the Technical Review Meeting for Vaccine Research and Development. Since then it has grown in size and reputation and at the first meeting in the new millennium, it became known as the Global Vaccine Research Forum. The conference brings together every year a world-wide selection of top researchers and scientists and serves as a forum for the partners of GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization) to discuss vaccine research and development issues, and to update research agendas. Moreover, the meeting provides an opportunity for discussion of broader issues of vaccine policy and implementation.

The last Forum took place on 26-29 June 2011 at the Centre International de Conférences Genève (CICG), in Geneva, Switzerland.

Following of the endorsement of the Global Vaccine Action Plan (GVAP) by the World Health Assembly, it has been decided to change format and scope of the GVRF to turn it into the venue to track progress on research related to the GVAP. The new forum is will be named Global Vaccine and Immunization Research Forum, and the first meeting will be held early 2014. More information will be provided shortly.
