Global meeting for sustainable measles mortality reduction and immunization system strengthening and the global measles forum
15-17 October 2003, Lord Charles Hotel, Cape Town, South Africa
Nearly 750,000 children die each year from measles. This meeting will focus efforts on achieving the global goal of sustainable measles mortality reduction and immunization system strengthening.
‘I want to be … alive - protect me against measles’ is the theme for the upcoming global meeting for sustainable measles mortality reduction and immunization system strengthening. It is critical to highlight the unacceptability that children die each year from measles and these deaths can be prevented.
This 3-day meeting is ultimately about working towards a vision of keeping kids alive. It’s critical that we work together to ensure that all children – no matter where they live - have the opportunity to be immunized against measles.
It is critical that we work to reaffirm the continued commitment of current measles partners and the importance of fostering new partnerships.
