Squalene-based adjuvants in vaccines

Squalene, a natural oil, is added to certain vaccines to enhance their efficacy. Since it may be a critical component in new vaccines against malaria and pandemic flu, at its meeting held on 6-7 June 2006 in Geneva, the Committee analysed the information regarding its safety in vaccines.
