"Innovation" is
one of three objectives currently targeted by the Department of Vaccines
and Biologicals (V&B) of WHO. Its objectives are to research, develop
and introduce new vaccines and biological products, immunization-related
strategies and technologies that will reduce the burden of diseases of
public health importance. The main focus is the priority project to
accelerate vaccine introduction (AVI), especially of under-utilized
vaccines, with particular emphasis on hepatitis B
and Hib vaccines.
