Ms Altieri, an Italian citizen, obtained a Master degree in Direction of Communications from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona in Spain in 2004. Prior to that she received a degree in Foreign Languages, Spanish and English, from the University of Trieste in Italy in 2001.

Recently, Ms Altieri has served as a strategic communications consultant for UNAIDS and the ILO, where she advised on internal communications and knowledge management respectively. Prior to that she worked as Communications Officer for the World Bank’s Development Marketplace in Washington DC. From 2004-2008, she served as Campaigns Regional Coordinator for the Inter American Development Bank (IDB), where she designed and implemented several development communications efforts in Latin America. She first joined the UN system in 2002, as junior external relations officer for UNDP’s country office in Honduras.

In 2011, Ms Altieri joined the Road Safety in 10 Countries (RS10) Project in the WHO Department of Violence and Injury Prevention and Disability (VIP). As part of the project, she will collaborate with colleagues to develop global training materials, and will make use of them to train journalists in the RS10 Project countries. She will also support development and implementation of the social marketing strategies being undertaken as part of the RS10 Project. Beyond this particular project, she will support outreach to the press around other high-profile events hosted by VIP.
