Dr Kacem Iaych is from Morocco, and is a mathematician statistician with a Bachelor degree in Mathematics (Rabat, Morocco), Master degree in Mathematics (Geneva, Switzerland) and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Statistics (Geneva, Switzerland). Prior to joining WHO, Dr Iaych worked for the International Road Federation as programme manager for statistics, managing data on carbon emissions of road construction projects and for the International Labour Organization, managing data on child labour. He also served as a teaching assistant in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Geneva.

Based on his experience as a consultant on the first Global status report on road safety, Dr Iaych joined the WHO Department for Management of Noncommunicable Diseases, Disability, Violence and Injury Prevention (NVI) in April 2011 to manage and interpret data for the second Global status report on road safety.
