Agencies launch WHO World report on violence and health in Romania
12 JULY 2004 -- The World report on violence and health was launched in Romania during an event co-organized by the Romanian National Agency for Family Protection, WHO and UNFPA. Hosted in Bucharest, the launch was attended by approximately 80 participants including, Dr Ovidiu Branzan, Minister of Health, and Ms Elena Dumitru, Secretary General of the Ministry of Labor, Social Solidarity and Family. Ms Ioana Marinescu, President of the National Agency for Family Protection, presented plans for follow-up activities including the development of a multi-sectoral national violence prevention strategy, strengthening of services for victims and data collection systems, awareness raising campaigns and capacity building for violence prevention staff.
