8th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion
During their annual meeting, the heads of the WHO Collaborating Centres on Injuries and Violence Prevention unanimously selected Johannesburg, South Africa as the location of the 8th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion (2006). The World Conference is intended for professionals, researchers and organisations involved in all aspects of the research, prevention, control and advocacy related to injuries and violence. The 8th World Conference will be hosted by the University of South Africa (UNISA) Institute for Social and Health Sciences. It will be the first such conference to be hosted in Africa. The conference theme, Beyond Safety in Numbers: Data to Action, invites participants to critically analyze both the successes and challenges facing researcher-practitioners in efforts to translate injury data into effective injury prevention programmes.
