United States Congressional Briefing on the World report on violence and health
15 September 2003
Experts on violence prevention and health from the Pan American Health Organization, the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Global Health Council and other centers joined the U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Richard Carmona, on Capitol Hill in Washington DC, to present the World report on violence and health and to debate violence prevention efforts in the United States and abroad. Participants stressed the large experience that has been accumulated in the US in this field and the need to develop mechanisms to export some of that knowledge more easily.
