WHO hosts multi-sectoral road safety meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
18 April 2005 - On 12 April 2005, WHO hosted a stakeholder meeting on road traffic injury prevention in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting brought together 19 representatives from the traffic police and the fire brigade; from the sectors of health, transport and roads; from insurance companies; and from WHO to discuss the results and progress being made from an ongoing road traffic injury data management capacity project funded by WHO. A major decision reached by all stakeholders was the need to harmonize road traffic injury data collection efforts by all the agencies in Addis Ababa. A working group consisting of six persons was selected to examine the ways different agencies collect and manage their road traffic injury data, and make recommendations on how to harmonize and share this information across agencies.
