Plans underway for development of 3rd global status report on road safety

On 3 October a meeting was held of the Advisory Committee for the 3rd global status report on road safety.

The objectives of the meeting were to reflect upon the outputs of the Global status report on road safety 2013 and consider possible modifications to improve the methodology and thus the quality of the information reported.

The discussion focused on: modifying the legislative work towards a more in-depth assessment of the legislation, as well as developing a range of categories to allow a detailed ranking of countries' legislation; improving the data on infrastructure and vehicle standards; and assessing what is needed from the report in order to further the global road safety agenda.

The 3rd global status report on road safety is expected to be launched in the last quarter of 2015.
