WHO regional advisers for disability and rehabilitation convene in Geneva

On 15-16 January, WHO regional advisers working on disability and rehabilitation convened in Geneva for their annual meeting to share information on achievements in 2012, challenges, and future opportunities; and define priorities for the year ahead.

Agenda items included: disability data, inclusive health, rehabilitation and assistive devices, community-based rehabilitation, the High-Level Meeting on Disability and Development, NCD and polio-related disability, and a range of mainstreaming activities including involuntary sterilization, early childhood development, and disability and disasters.

2013 promises to be an important year in disability with discussions on disability in the WHO Executive Board in January, possible adoption of a resolution on disability by the World Health Assembly in May, and the High-Level Meeting on Disability and Development in the UN General Assembly in September.
