European focal points for violence and injury prevention convene in the Netherlands
Building a shared vision for the prevention of violence and injury in Europe: first meeting of European national focal points for violence and injury prevention was held in Noordwijkerhout, the Netherlands on 17-18 November. This meeting was hosted jointly by the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the Government of the Netherlands. Thirty-four countries were represented by forty-eight focal points. The meeting facilitated the establishment of a network of European focal points for violence and injury prevention, identified concrete forms of collaboration between the network and WHO, and planned future products and activities. The First Global Meeting of Ministry of Health Focal Points for Injury and Violence Prevention is being planned for 31 March and 1 April 2006 as a pre-meeting to the 8th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion to be held in Durban, South Africa.
