European Parliament launches the World report on violence and health
World report on violence and health
In collaboration with the WHO Office for the European Union, Members of the European Parliament (MEP), Mr J. Bowis and Mrs. A. Karamanou, launched the World report on violence and health in Brussels. The event was attended by some 40 MEPs and representatives of NGOs working on violence prevention. Speakers included Mr Bowis, MEP UK; Mrs Palme, widow of the former Swedish Prime Minister; Mr Titz from the Council of Europe; and Dr Etienne Krug, Director Department of Injuries and Violence Prevention, WHO. During the meeting, several MEPs expressed strong support for the World report on violence and health and invited WHO to organize a series of follow up activities.
