WHO and Mexico's National Institute for Public Health plan for Safety 2008
While final arrangements are being made for the 8th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion which will take place in Durban, South Africa from 2-5 April 2006, the first steps are already being taken to plan the next conference in the series. This week the first meeting between the International Organizing Committee (IOC) and the National Organizing Committee (NOC) for the 9th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion took place in Mexico. The IOC and NOC met to review the initial plans concerning the conference which will be held in Merida (Yucatan) in March 2008. It was agreed that the main theme for the conference will be "Globalization: challenges and opportunities for injury prevention".
