Resolution of traffic safety
9-6-2003: May the General Assembly passed a Resolution welcoming WHO's efforts to designate road safety as the theme of WHD 2004 to be observed on 7 April; encouraging governments and civil society to raise awareness about road traffic deaths and injuries; and requesting the Secretary General to submit a report on the issue to the General Assembly next year. This Resolution sponsored by 56 countries is the result of efforts initiated by His Excellency Ambassador Fuad Al Hinai, representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the UN and will lead to what is likely to be the first debate ever on traffic safety in the General Assembly just before World Health Day 2004.
