Our mission is to promote positive masculinity and end men’s violence.
Our approach is to support the development of men’s programs in diverse communities, and build a global network of these organizations working in alliance with women to prevent violence and promote peace.
Our programs focus on developing leadership skills and increasing program sustainability for community-based men’s programs at all stages of development. We do this by providing personalized and affordable programs.

Steven Botkin founded the Men’s Resource Center of Western Massachusetts in 1982 and received his doctoral degree in Social Justice Education from the University of Massachusetts several years later. He guided the MRC from a grass-roots group of volunteers into a successful non-profit community-based organization, whose programs have become a model for men’s organizing in communities around the world.
In 2004 Steven left this position to found Men’s Resources International to support the development of men’s programs in diverse communities and build a global network. Dr. Botkin has presented lectures and workshops and provided resources for colleges, organizations and individuals throughout the United States and the world, including the United Nations, Japan, Zambia and Nigeria.

James Arana is a Social Worker who comes to Men’s Resources International with more than 25 years of working with programs and organizations such as the New York City’s Unitas Therapeutic Community Inc. I have a Dream Program, the NYC Board of Education, and most recently as a prevention Specialist for Cooley Dickinson Hospital/Western Mass Center for Healthy Communities as a Prevention Specialist. James is excited to join the team of Men’s Resources International after years of consulting for Men’s Resources Center’s youth program. James has a bachelor degree in Social Work from Mercy College in New York City and has completed one year at Smith School of Social Work.
