  • International Human Rights Day 2013: seeking a new normal
    10 December 2013 | OSLO - "We seek a new normal, where the right of every woman and every child to health is prioritized by all". Joy Phumaphi, the iERG Chair, addressed the participants of the Consultation on Applying Human Rights to Women’s and Children’s Health that took place in Oslo, 5-6 December 2013, on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day. The Oslo Consultation provided a forum for a broader discussion and sharing of experiences of impact of implementation of a rights based approach to health service delivery. Participants marked a significant progress that has been made in further articulating the importance of human rights as a foundation for improving health.
  • iERG welcomes a young person as a new member
    15 November 2013 | GENEVA - WHO and the iERG welcomed Ms Sejal Hathi as a new young member of the iERG. The iERG is now a group of 9 experts.
  • iERG 2013 report at 64th WPRO RC
    21-25 October 2013 | Manila - The sixty-fourth session of the World Health Organization Regional Committee for the Western Pacific took place in Manila, Philippines from 21 to 25 October 2013. Maternal and child health were among the key items on the agenda this year. Kathleen Ferrier presented the iERG 2013 report on behalf of the iERG.
  • Launch of the 2nd iERG report
    September 2013 | New York - The iERG presented the key results of their second year of work and major findings of the 2013 report at a number of special events related to advocacy and reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) which took place during the lead-up and the week of the opening of the 68th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
  • Every Woman Every Child +SocialGood: 1,000 days to achieve the MDGs
    24 July 2013 | New York - Carmen Barroso will moderate the Translating Country Action Panel at the Every Woman Every Child +SocialGood event. The event aims to leverage the +SocialGood platform by identifying new ways to incorporate the power of technology and new media to advance a common agenda for women and children’s health worldwide.

    8 March 2013 - Statement from the independent Expert Review Group (iERG) on Information and Accountability for Women's and Children's Health on International Women’s Day.
  • Health and accountability in post 2015: statement from the iERG
    19 February 2013 - The iERG has submitted its comment on the Draft Report of the Global Thematic Consultation on Health. The comment calls for solid incorporation of accountability as an integral part of the new development framework.
  • Extended mandate for the iERG
    23 January 2013 | Geneva - The WHO Executive Board endorsed the draft resolution entitled EB132.R4 “Implementation of the recommendations of the Commission on Life-Saving Commodities for Women and Children”. The Member States request that the iERG will take responsibility for overseeing the progress of this major piece of work. This resolution will be presented to the upcoming World Health Assembly for consideration by Member States.
