iERG monitoring approach
The framework is aligned with the key accountability principles embraced by the UN Global Strategy and the Commission. The principles include:
- focus on national leadership and ownership of results;
- strengthen countries' capacity to monitor and evaluate;
- reduce the reporting burden by aligning efforts with the systems countries use to monitor and evaluate their national health strategies;
- strengthen and harmonize existing international mechanism to track progress on all commitments made.
The iERG progress review work is based on the country context and priorities; and uses already existing mechanisms, processes and data sources, as far as possible to reduce the reporting burden on countries.
